More than 70 million children worldwide lack access to education and schooling. In Ethiopia, this applies for more than three million girls. Fiskaa will take part in field-trips to take a close look at measures taken by the Ethoipian government and UNICEF, with Norwegian support, to strengthen girls’ education initiatives and quality education. Ms. Fiskaa will also follow up projects undertaken in the fight against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Ethiopia is a pilot country for Norwegian support to fight FGM, and surveys undertaken in 2008 clearly indicate that the prevalence of FGM is decreasing all over Ethiopia.
State Secretary Fiskaa will also discuss Norwegian support to hydropower development withwith H.E Ato Asfaw Dingamo, Minister of Water Resources and discuss the developments of the One-UN agenda in Ethiopia with State Minister for Finance and Economic Decelopment H.E Ahmed Shide.
