The Ambassador Presented Credentials to AU Chairperson

09.11.2007 // Ambassador Jens-Petter Kjemprud presented, very belatedly due to different circumstances, his credentials to Alpha Omar Konare, Chairperson of the African Union, making him Permanent Representative of Norway to the African Union, on Thursday 8 November 2007.

The Ambassador confirmed the strong commitment to continue Norwegian cooperation with and support to the AU at this important juncture for the AU.  The Chairperson expressed satisfaction with the support rendered to AU and described it as a sign of recognition of the role of the organisation. The Chairperson further adressed a number of issues and challenges facing Africa and the African Union including conflict resolution, environment, climate change and its relationship to UN and the EU.
