Mersha recently joined the embassy and will be focusing on clean energy / hydro power and environmental issues such as the climate change.
- I have a great impression of the embassy and my colleagues and I are looking forward to work within this field, says Mersha. He comes from the Ministry of Mines and Energy where he worked in the capacity of an Environmental and Social Management Officer for the Rural Electrifiction Fund under the Ethiopia Rural Energy Development and Promotion Center . He has also been working as assistant National Programme Coordinator for UNDP’s Environmental Programme in the Federal Environmental Protection Authority. Mersha has a master degree in Rural land ecology from Holland and a bachelor in biology from Addis Ababa University.
- Norway is promoting clean energy and this can also be seen as a solution to the climate change issues. Ethiopia has a huge potential when it comes to clean energy and I am very happy I can work with this field, says Mersha. Among other things he will be following up on the Norwegian contribution to the next hydro power feasibility study in the Blue Nile Basin, which is due to be signed this year.
