Last week a delegation from The Norwegian Construction Workers Union (see
http://www.fellesforbundet.no/internet/) in Drammen, Asker and Bærum visited the Ethiopian Construction Workers Union, establishing cooperation and support from the Norwegian Union for a training and recruitment programme for the Ethiopian Construction Workers Union.
The Delegation, consisting of Lars Mamen and Håkon Straumen, met with the leadership of the Union as well as shop stewards at a number of construction sites in Addis Ababa and its environs (see pictures). The strong economic growth and the subsequent building boom leaves the trade unions with numerous challenges as well as opportunities. The delegation from Norway discussed how trade unions in Norway could assist and also shared views and experiences from Norway.
