Support for up-and coming Ethiopian football-team

Last updated: 02.09.2010 // “Ye Tesfa Ser Sports Club” was a brand new club starting up in 4th division in Addis Abeba last year. After the end of season, they were promoted into the 3rd division, having beaten all their competitors first time around. On the 1st of September, they were given a small support from colleagues in Norway, when Ambassador Kjemprud handed over football-shirts donated from FK Skiold, a football club in the Drammen area in Eastern Norway.

-We have developed a good team spirit, and that has been crucial for our success. All expenses like costumes, balls and training facilities have been paid out of our own pockets, and are really grateful for this support from FK Skiold via the Embassy of Norway, says Tesfa Getahoun, who together with Zerihoun Bekele started up the team.

Ambassador Kjemprud handed over shirts for all the players, and the banner of “Skiold Ski og Ballklubb”, a team in Drammen which is currently celebrating its 100 Anniversary. The beneficiary-teams name “Tesfa” means hope in Amharic, and in addition to their high hopes for the next season, it is the hope of the embassy that there will be more cooperation in the furute between “Ye Tesfa Ser Sportsclub” and “Skiold.
