Ethiopia/Norway Relations. Press release by the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The following press release was issued by the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday: "The Foreign Ministers of Ethiopia and Norway held a meeting on 25 September 2008, in New York on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly. The two ministers reviewed the report of the Joint Technical Committee established with a mandate to look into all aspects of the problems and misunderstandings that led to the regrettable turn of events in the relations between Ethiopia and Norway.

The ministers expressed satisfaction with the work of the technical committee, and agreed to restore relations between the two countries to their previous status. Accordingly, the decision taken by the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in connection with the diplomatic representation of the Kingdom of Norway in Addis Ababa has been rescinded.

It is the hope of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that cooperation between our two countries will now continue to deepen in all areas.
