Peacekeeping in Korea: Ethiopians and Norwegians on the same side

Last updated: 25.06.2010 // June 25th marks the 60th anniversary for the beginning of the Korean War, in which Ethiopia contributed fighting forces, and Norway contributed a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital.

Altogether 623 Norwegians served at the “NORMASH” unit. Two of them lost their lives. Ethiopia sent the “Kagnew- battalion ” which served with great distinction. 121 Ethiopians were killed and 536 wounded during the course of the conflict.

Servicemen and women from altogether 21 nations served in the Korean War.
