There is an ongoing programme of mutual visits and cooperation between Nidaros and the western synod of the Mekane Yesus church and the visit of Bishop Singaas had the objective of strengthening this cooperation. The Bishop was impressed by what he saw. “In particular I was impressed by the youthfulness and the strong commitment of the priests as well as the role of women in the church” said the bishop. Travelling far west in Ethiopia in Oromia and Benishangul, they also visited development project activities run by the Norwegian Bible Society as well as projects ran by Norwegian missionary organisations, ranging from health to environmental projects.
For most of the participants this was their first ever visit to Ethiopia, and they were all eager to give an account of their experiences in their respective congregations on their return to Norway, as well as a commitment to return to Ethiopia.
