Embassy of Norway’s Development Cooperation has been audited

Last updated: 25.01.2010 // A team consisting of three from the Office of the Auditor General of Norway has spent two weeks in Addis Abeba, and conducted two field visits to programmes supported financially by the embassy.

Mr Finn Johannesen, Mrs. Magnhild Kaasin and Mrs. Kari Hauge came to Addis Abeba on the 10th of January, and left on the 22nd. In addition to meetings with Embassy development staff and partners, they visited Norwegian People’s Aid/ Ethiopian Mine Action Office Mine-Detection Dogs in Dire Dawa, and an HIV/Aids projects run by UNFPA and UNICEF in Hawassa and Arba Minch. Both projects are part of the Embassy’s development portfolio.

The Office of the Auditor General shall ensure that the community's resources and taxpayer’s money are used and administered in keeping with the Norwegian Parliaments decisions. They do this through auditing, monitoring and guidance.

The team also had a chance to meet with the Office of the Ethiopian Auditor General and discussed possible cooperation. There is a desire from the Ethiopian side to further develop competence on IT-audit, and this will be followed up.
