On May 17 the Royal Norwegian Embassy, true to tradition, invited friends, colleagues, and the Norwegian community to a celebration of the National Day. According to Norwegian customs, the menu of the day was salmon, shrimps and sausages, which were well received by Norwegian, Ethiopian and international guests alike.
The National Day commemorates the signing of the Norwegian Constitution in 1814. Although Norway did not become independent until 1905, the event formalized the values of democracy, solidarity and equality by which the country is still ruled today.
