In his address to the Congress ambassador Jens-Petter Kjemprud forwarded greetings from LO – Norway.  He acknowledged the work of CETU and the need for strong trade unions to face challenges in labour relations in the strong economic growth period Ethiopia is going through. Good labour relations are important to safeguard not only the rights of the workers but also for the sustainability of the economy. The ambassador acknowledged also the Decent Work agenda in Ethiopia and urged all three parties (labour, employers and Government) to stay committed to the agenda.

CETU has strong relations with LO – Norway and cooperates on training, including on gender issues. There is also an ongoing cooperation between Norwegian and Ethiopian construction workers to support recruitment and organizing skills of the Ethiopian construction workers, while the Norwegian industrial workers union supports HIV/Aids training in the same Ethiopian union.
