The Tore Godal prize ceremony 2008. Armauer Hansen Institute awards young researchers
Last Tuesday the Tore Godal prize ceremony was conducted at the Armauer Hansen Institute in Addis Ababa. The Armauer Hansen Research Institute ( AHRI ) gave the Tore Godal Prize Award to three young Ethiopian Researchers for their excellent work on infectious diseases. Accordingly, Edessa Negera, Hiwot Teka and Mulualem Agonafer received the awards at the ceremony held at ALERT campus on 25 th November, 2008. The awards were presented by the Norwegian Ambassador, His Excellency Mr. Jens Petter Kj e mprud.
The researchers were awarded particularly for their research on TB, malaria and Leshmniases. Dr. Abraham Aseffa remarked at the celebration of the 8th award of the Tore Godal – AHRI prize that the awarded is given to young Ethiopian researchers who presented papers on topics related to relevant infectious diseases and to those who registered remarkable results. Speaking at the award ceremony, His Excellency Dr. Kebede Worku, State Minister for Health, said the award would encourage young researchers to conduct Health researches relevant to the country’s needs. On the occasion, Ato Hailu Zewge , Planning and Programming Head of the Center and Secretary of the Tore Godal Prize committee for eight years, said that so far the Institute awarded 24 young researchers.
