Embassy supports 500 copies of”Further Mathematics for Economics” for Mekelle University

Last updated: 19.07.2010 // Knut Sydsæter, Professor Emeritus from the Department of Economics at the University of Oslo, has worked on improving mathematics for economists in several African countries since 1990. Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Ethiopia have been the core countries for the project. The Embassy of Norway in Addis Abeba has supported the Ethiopian edition of “Further Mathematics for Economists”, written by Prof. Sydsæter in cooperation with Professor Emeritus Peter Hammond of Standford University.

The book is a continuation of “Mathematics Essential for economic Analysis” printed in 2009, a process started when  students at Mekelle University  encouraged Knut to write an Ethiopian edition of “Essential Mathematics for Economic Analysis” (EMEA), a book he has previously written in cooperation with Prof.  Hammond.
