The internship will be completed with our Finance & Projects department, focussing on practical legal work and skills related
to the areas of international banking, finance and business law, but may also be extended to cover other areas of particular
interest. The scope of the position is to allow the candidate to acquire practical skills and further legal insight for his/her
future career in law.
The successful candidate will be in the finishing stages of his/her studies (bachelor or master degree), have an interest for
international finance and business law, a solid academic record, and be dedicated to development in Ethiopia in both a local
and international context.
Selection of the successful candidate will be made in collaboration with the faculty of law at the University of Mekele. DLA
Piper reserves, however, full discretion and confidentiality in selecting the candidate, but applicable criteria inter alia as
follows:
§
language (English written and spoken) and communication skills
§
academic record
§
interest for international finance and/or business law
§
dedication to development in Ethiopia, locally and in an international context
§
future professional potential within public service or as a private practitioner of law
§
personality and ability to fit in and function in the environment of an international law firm
DLA Piper will pay all necessary expenses for the internship, including travel expenses to/from Norway (including visa
application fees), boarding costs in Norway and reasonable spending money to cover local living costs and spare-time
activities. The position is otherwise a non-salaried training position.
All practical arrangements, including travel itinerary and period/length of stay are subject to a separate agreement between
DLA Piper and the selected candidate. The position is further conditional upon that the candidate will obtain a traveller's visa
to Norway. DLA Piper will give necessary assistance in coordination with the Norwegian Embassy to Ethiopia in the visa
application process.
