Linking Ethiopia and Norway’s business communities

Last updated: 06.09.2011 // Norway’s first business conference focusing exclusively on Africa, the Norwegian-African Business Summit, will be held in Oslo on Thursday 29 September. Business people and entrepreneurs from Ethiopia are welcomed

- We would hereby like to invite the business community in Ethiopia to attend this important event, says project director Eivind Fjeldstad. The Norwegian-African Business Association (NABA), Norway’s first chamber of commerce linking Norway and African business communities, is organizing the conference with partners such as the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Norfund (Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries) and KLM.

- Our aim is that this conference can be the starting point of new, fruitful business collaborations between our two countries. In Norway, sectors such as oil and gas, renewable energy, finance, aquaculture/fisheries, shipping, agriculture, technology, tourism and consumer-related companies are invited to the business summit, says Fjeldstad.

High level participation

Many high-level speakers will shed light on the new business climate in Africa. Norwegian Minister of Trade, Mr. Trond Giske, is opening the summit. Other speakers include UN-ECA Chief Economist Prof. Emmanuel Nndozie and several business people with vast experience doing business in Africa. All African ambassadors accredited to Norway are invited to meet the Norwegian business community in order to present business opportunities in their home countries, and the organizer hope that business representatives from Ethiopia will be present as well.

- All delegates flying in from Ethiopia get complimentary admission, and our main partner, KLM airlines, offers specially discounted tickets, says the project director. Companies and business people interested to attend the conference can download the program and find out more from the Norwegian-African Business Association (NABA) website: www.norwegianafrican.no/conference
