The Africa Union is holding its 15th summit in Kampala, Uganda from the 19th until the 27th of July. Norwegian delegates are present, particularly following meetings about regional issues in the Horn of Africa. Read more

During his visit to Addis Ababa last Friday Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre met African Union Deputy Chairperson Erastus Mwencha. The two discussed a wide range of issues ranging from the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and Climate Change to the peace and security architecture in Africa. Read more

The Norwegian Special Envoy for Sudan Ambassador Tom Vraalsen attended last Saturday’s meeting on Sudan at AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa. During his stay ambassador Vraalsen also met with both high level representatives of the NCP and SPLM discussing in particular the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. State Secretary Fiskaa at the conference

Norwegian State Secretary Ingrid Fiskaa participated at the annual meeting of the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) for Ministers of Finance and Economy in Malawi. Norway was invited to the conference to speak about illicit capital flows from Africa. Read more

Since 1995, Norway has been supporting the Training for Peace (TfP) programme, helping to build African capacity for civilian personnel to participate as an integral part of UN and AU peacekeeping missions. Elling Tjønneland visited Addis Ababa this week as part of the TfP review process. Read more
