High Level NATO visit concluded

NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General Maurits Jochems yesterday concluded his visit to the African Union. At a debrief for NATO member state's ambassadors last night hosted by the Norwegian Embassy, which has an informal liasion role for NATO towards AU, ambassador Jochems explained NATOs role and cooperation with the AU.
Ambassador Jochems met with the Deputy Chairperson of AU and the Commissioner for Peace and Security as well as ambassadors of AU member states during his two day visit. He had emphasized during his meetings that NATO appreciate the cooperation with AU and would be willing to look into further requests from AU concerning strategic airlifts for AU peace keeping troops as well as cooperation on capacity building needs at the AU.
During the debrief ambassador Jens-Petter Kjemprud used the opportunity to thank Norwegian colonel Brynjar Nymo for his one year service as NATO Senior Military Liasion Officer to AU and welcome his sucessor Mehmet Aygun from Turkey.
