In his speech, Dr.Tedros thanked the government of Norway and the Norwegian People for the donation helping the implementation of programmes aimed at Ethiopian women and children. He also said that the Norwegian support for the Global Health Fund was important and much appreciated, in an effort for Ethiopia to achieve its health-aspects of the Millenium Development Goals.
Ambassador Kjemprud underscored the importance of well-functioning logistics for humanitarian operations, as well as the fact that Norway is the largest donor to UNICEF per capita.

The company producing them, “OB.Wiik”, is an important partner in delivering such and other halls to the NOREPS programme. NOREPS is a partnership between the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning, the Norwegian Red Cross, major Norwegian NGOs and selected Norwegian suppliers of relief goods. It responds to international emergency needs through a combination of standby personnel, ready-to-deploy stocks of relief goods and life-saving equipment and logistics.
The storage facility for UNICEF in Addis Abeba is located around Lancia near the Debre Zeit Road, and has been operational since 1986. The two halls donated from Norway is an important part of a process to improve the capacity for the facility.
