In the next two decades, Ethiopia will see economic growth without an increase in climate emissions. This was the message from Prime Minister Meles Zenawi during the launch of at the Ethiopia’s Climate Resilient Green Economy strategy at climate summit in Durban on December 8th. Norway and the UK have pledged to partner with Ethiopia on climate issues and will provide economic support.

The people of Yallo woreda in the Afar National Regional State made a public declaration officially denouncing female genital mutilation and other harmful traditions in ceremony held in Yallo town on the 24th of November 2011 as part of the effort to contribute for the abandonment of FGM in Ethiopia. Yallo is one of the 32 woredas in the region situated in the north-east of Ethiopia.
