Welcoming Ambassador KVALHEIM, the Chairperson paid tribute to Norway for its historical role in supporting the independence of many African countries and its continued commitment to help the African continent in the field of peace, security and development, notably in the Sudan.
On his part, Ambassador KVALHEIM pointed out that his government will continue its close cooperation with AUC in the field of peace and security, including the work of the AU High Level Implementation Panel (AU-HIP) in the Sudan, led by former South African President, Thabo Mbeki.
Mr. KVALHEIM also underlined the key role AU is playing in the continent.The Chairperson and the Ambassador of Norway exchanged views on several issues including the recent developments in Libya and AU’s efforts to find a political solution to the crisis in that country.
The ceremony was attended, among others, by Ambassador John Kayode Shinkaye,Chief of Staff in the Bureau of Chairperson and Mr Pierre Moussavou, Deputy Chief of Staff.
