Camilla Solvang Hansen is the new trainee at the Embassy. She is just finalising her masters degree in International Studies: Political Economy and Conflict Dynamics from PRIO, Norway/University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. Camilla has also conducted parts of her Bachelor of Social Science at the University of Cape Town, South Africa and has spent most of the last four years in South Africa.
During her studies Camilla has engaged in several community projects and worked as a research assistant at the University of Stellenbosch. In addition she has published several articles, mainly for the Norwegian Council for Africa.
Camilla grew up in Volda, Norway, close to the birthplace of Ivar Aasen, and she writes the written Norwegian language of Nynorsk (New Norwegian). Ivar Aasen created Nynorsk in the 19th century, based on Norwegian dialects, as an alternative to the Danish language written at that time. Nynorsk is one of the official languages in Norway, however just above 10% of Norwegians use Nynorsk as their primary written language.
Camilla will work at the Embassy until December 2009.
