Ambassador Jens-Petter Kjemprud last Monday met the President of the Republic of Djibouti in the Presidential Palace.
Discussions were held on the current border conflict with Eritrea, the upcoming Somalia talks to be held in Djibouti and bilateral relations between Norway and Djibouti. President Guelleh said that Djibouti appreciate the constructive and active role Norways plays in the Horn of Africa region, while ambassador Kjemprud responded by giving due recognition to the impressive economic development in Djibouti and to the important, knowledgeable and balancing role Djibouti plays in the subregion.
The ambassador also met Foreign Minister Mahamoud Ali Youssouf and other representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other goverment officials. He also visited the IGAD Secretariat for talks with Executive Secretary Dr. Attala on regional issues, as well as meeting resident ambassadors and UN-representatives in Djibouti. Consul Michel Izzo and trainee Rosalind Møyholm also attended.
